Our vineyards were planted in the early 20th century. Most of them are of the Mencía variety, although there are other kinds of grape too.
The Alicante Bouschet variety is known in El Bierzo as Garnacha Tintorera. It is acknowledged by the Regulatory Council. We possess a significant number of old vineyards.
In 2017 we started to play around with the variety, in search of its specificity, making a wine that would reflect its peculiar personality. It ferments in open barrels with cap plunging and stems. Blending it with a very warm harvest favoured the ripening of the variety. After this brief time in barrels, the wine is bottled, which is where it starts evolving.
